We all would have come across this scene in movies where a well-dressed guy walks into a restaurant and stumbles when offered a menu card. Let’s assume that there are two reasons for this. The person might not be knowing English to order off a menu or the person might have no idea about the dishes. Have you ever been caught in such a situation? Don’t’ worry! We’ve got you covered.
Politeness is the key
Be polite. The very first step to be taken while going to a restaurant would be to make a reservation. If you have a reservation then tell the host that you have one, he’ll then guide you to your table. If you don’t have a reservation, then politely tell the host that you need a table for two (or the required number), the host will direct you to the available table.
When you’re ordering from a menu, you can always take the waiter’s assistance. The waiters have more knowledge about the food and they are trained to assist you while ordering. If you’re unsure of the dish that you’re ordering, you can still take the waiter’s guidance. If you have any extra suggestions, please inform the waiter while ordering. If the waiter brings the wrong dish, then politely tell the waiter.
The restaurant staff would give preference to patient guests over the impatient ones. Once you receive the order, thank the waiter. If you liked the service then you can give a tip to the waiter. Happy dining!
